WeWork, Techstars team up for global accelerator program

WeWork is teaming up with Techstars, the worldwide network to help entrepreneurs succeed, to provide a home for Techstars global accelerator programs and access to WeWork’s platform for creators, beginning in Toronto, Kansas City, Boston, and New York City.

“Techstars entrepreneurs represent some of the world’s best innovators on the front lines of the industries of the future,” says WeWork CFO Artie Minson. “By welcoming more of this next generation of creators into the WeWork community, our members — everyone from entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses to middle-market and Fortune 500 corporations — will have new opportunities to connect and collaborate.”

Amy Smith, Techstars vice president of partnerships, says the venture makes perfect sense for both companies.

“WeWork and Techstars are cut from the same cloth, aligned in our missions to help entrepreneurs make connections and provide access to resources to accelerate their business success,” she says.

Lesa Mitchell, managing director of TechStars Kansas City, says her staff has already been enjoying the space at WeWork Corrigan Station. But more importantly, it’s the perfect place to bring together startup founders and potential funders.

“It feels like home to everyone who comes in here,” said Mitchell.

WeWork will be offering Techstar accelerator founders and alumni discounted workspace at more than 170 WeWork locations across 56 cities and 17 countries, empowering the global Techstars community to make a life, not just a living.
