During Women’s March, Apple names Meetup ‘App of the Day’

When hundreds of thousands of people were gathering around the country for the Women’s March, many of them were finding friends and organizing contingents with the help of the same platform.

That platform was Meetup, which got a boost that day when Apple named it the App of the Day. Apple said Meetup “helps you find and connect—in person—with people who share your interests, goals, and dreams.”

The Meetup staff said they were thrilled by the timing.

“Meetup exists to bring people together IRL,” says Carolyn Manning, the company’s Vice President of Brand and Community. “It was meaningful that Apple featured our app the same day as the Women’s March, when men and women around the world showed up and made their voices heard together.”

By harnessing technology to remove the barriers to human connection, Meetup is bringing people together all over the world. Every month, almost 4 million Meetup members RSVP for Meetups being held in over 180 countries.
