Four nonprofits setting out to change the world

If you’re looking for nonprofits to support that do great work around the world, these four should be on the list. Their missions might be very different, but these WeWork members all have the same overall goal: make life a little better for people in developing nations.

Doctors of the World

Working with populations affected by disease, conflict, or natural disasters, Doctors of the World is providing both short-term emergency care and long-term medical assistance to people around the globe. Founded by 15 doctors back in 1980, the organization has served more than 4 million people in 80 countries.

Eastern Congo Initiative

Founded by Ben Affleck, The Eastern Congo Initiative focuses on the development of sustainable communities in the eastern part of this African nation. Through its advocacy programs, this nonprofit hopes to increase private and public investment in the region while improving the overall health of its people.

Trek Medics International

This nonprofit is dedicated to improving emergency medical care to far-flung parts of the world. Their Beacon software, created by the organization, targets the 4.5 billion people in the world who lack access to a 911 system. They currently have programs in Tanzania and the Dominican Republic.

More than 1 million people around the world have benefitted from this nonprofit organization, which pushes for sustainable development in developing nations. Around since 1989, it works with academic institutions, government agencies, aid organizations, and community leaders in areas ranging from agriculture to technology.
