WeWork Expands On Demand Nationally, Digitizing Office Space for a Flexible Future

As the need for flexible office solutions grows, WeWork On Demand expands across the U.S.

New York — WeWork, a global leader in flexible space solutions, has announced the expansion of WeWork On Demand to an additional 10 markets across the U.S. after a successful pilot program in New York City.

WeWork On Demand is a new offering that allows individuals pay-as-you-go access to safe and convenient workspace for only $29 per day (or meeting rooms starting at $10 per hour). Through the free WeWork On Demand app, WeWork is digitizing its real estate portfolio to provide individuals with the ability to choose where, when, and how they work, right from their phone.

On Demand will now be available in a total of 11 markets in the U.S., with users able to book space in approximately 160 buildings across Atlanta, Austin, Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, NYC, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

“We’re thrilled by the success of WeWork On Demand in New York City, and are excited to be able to expand this offering to individuals across the U.S,” said Prabhdeep Singh, WeWork’s Global Head of Marketplace. “Whether someone is looking for human connection, a distraction-free workspace near their home, space to take important meetings, or just a change of scenery with consistent WiFi, On Demand can meet those needs in no time at all. As a direct response to user demand, this expansion will allow us to provide access to clean, safe work environments to more people looking for convenient alternatives to the home office.”

During the first 60 days of the New York City pilot program, nearly 700 workspace and conference rooms were booked through the On Demand app, with more than half of these users coming back for at least a second reservation.  Throughout the eight-week pilot, WeWork saw steady growth in both users and reservations week over week, with an 84% spike in users and 41% increase in reservations during a recent week. Users appreciate the flexibility of easily and quickly securing space, with most users booking their reservation just one day prior to use. WeWork expects this pattern to grow with the national expansion of On Demand.

Antoine Badin, a Manager at Wavestone and On Demand user said, “I have really enjoyed the WeWork spaces myself and my team have been booking through the On Demand app. We’ve made more than 100 bookings over the past few months, and have managed to spend time in a number of different locations around New York City. It’s easy, convenient,  and I feel safe – which is obviously really important in the current environment.’’

The positive response to this pilot underscores the growing trend of workers craving in-person, human connection and in-office collaboration. From parents looking to escape the distractions of home, to startup employees needing safe, private conference rooms to  collaborate – we’ve seen a clear demand for the flexibility to choose when, where, and how people work.

“As a working mom with a young child learning remotely for 3 days a week, being able to choose where I work, against a timeline that suits me, is hugely appealing, said On Demand user Anne du Boucheron, Creative Consultant and Agent at Anne du Boucheron Inc.

“We’ve also made a new hire recently, and being able to provide her with a face-to-face onboarding experience has been instrumental to her successfully integrating the team.”

WeWork locations participating in On Demand have a number of amenities for visitors, including unlimited coffee, outdoor space, bike storage, a mother’s room, and more. To learn more about On Demand, visit our website.
