About the WeWork Artists in Residence Program
Based at WeWork Custom House in Portland, OR, the WeWork Artists in Residence program provides cohorts of four artists the workspace, programming, and community they need to thrive as both artists and entrepreneurs. Diverse modes of creative expression under a shared roof can drive innovation and refresh tired ideas. In this way, Artists in Residence exists as a partnership between the cohort and current members. WeWork is committed to ensuring all creators have access to inspiring workspace in the urban core and the Artists in Residence program aims to provide it in tandem with unique and thoughtful programming + community partnerships to empower the artists and each WeWork member work better, together.
Residents will receive 6 months of shared workspace among other artists in the cohort + access to all amenities available to WeWork members.
With access to the WeWork Member Network, residents gain a connection to the global network of WeWork members in addition to the community of members + businesses existing within WeWork Custom House.
In conjunction with Cake Machine, a continuous coaching and development experience will give residents the foundational tools needed to be successful in creative self, team, and project leadership.
WeWork x Cake Machine
WeWork is excited to partner with Cake Machine - a PNW creative consulting firm - to help make the Artists in Residence program truly unique. Cake Machine has designed a workshop that empowers creative leaders within the arts to create a thriving business while maintaining a focus on the creative act — the dance, music, visual art, etc—as the driving force. For the duration of the WeWork Artists in Residence program, they will guide and coach residents through a creative career acceleration process derived from their extensive creative production, consulting and coaching work in the arts and creative industries. Through ongoing support and development and a four-part workshop series, residents will refine the articulation of their personal brand, develop marketing strategy, adopt frameworks for personal and organizational leadership and refine a foundational understanding of the principles of business entity formation, marketing and finance.
