アレン曲線は、物理的な距離と人々のコミュニケーションの頻度との間に強い負の相関関係があることを明らかにしました。相手からの距離が 5 メートルから 15 メートル（16 フィートから 49 フィート）になると、コミュニケーションの平均的な頻度は半分に減少し、15 メートルから 50 メートル（49 フィートから 164 フィート）になると、さらに半減します。50 メートル（164 フィート）を超えると、別のビルにいるのと同じになります。<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

さらに、（WeWork で使われているような）ガラスの壁は、社会心理学者 Stanley Milgram の提唱した「見慣れた他人（ファミリア・ストレンジャー）」<\/a>の概念を実証し、この説がコミュニティの一体感や職場での信頼関係に与える影響を裏付けています。「繰り返し顔を合わせる他人は、直接の知り合いでない場合でも、時間とともに強く結びつくことがある」と Milgram は言いました。<\/p>\n\n\n\n

エネルギーとワークスペースの融合<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

エネルギーの不均衡を感じたら、エネルギーを再調整し、バランスを整えるための方法や条件があります。これまで見てきたように、それは空間に変化を加えるだけではなく、設計意図や文化の違い、透明性についてコミュニケーションする際に使う言語といった、社会的条件の組み合わせかもしれません。ワークスペースについて考えるとき、次のことを自問してみましょう。<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. ワークスペースと従業員との関係に柔軟性をもたらしましたか？<\/strong>
    仕事をする環境は、そこで働く人たちと共に進化するべきです。ビルの中で最も流動的な存在は人です。ビルは人々のニーズに合わせて変化できる必要があります。

    ワークスペースには従業員のニーズに合わせたさまざまなオプションが必要です。職場は、あらゆる状況に適合したオプションの提供を想定する必要があります。

    考えてみましょう。コミュニケーションを最大化し、人々が（回復やリフレッシュのため）高レベルのエネルギーから解放されて休息をとったり、あるいは（コラボレーションや議論のため）高レベルのエネルギーで積極的に参加できるようなデザインになっていますか？ <\/em><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
