But for many, it was a long and winding road to get to this place. We asked some of our LGBTQIA+ WeWork members what advice they\u2019d give to their younger selves\u2014and to future generations. From story to story, there is an undeniable theme present in their poignant words: authenticity. While the road to self-acceptance can be nonlinear and sometimes feel without an end, the path is more rewarding when you stay true to yourself, they say. These are some of the encouraging messages they shared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2  id=\"you-have-everything-that-you-need-within-yourself\"class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cYou have everything that you need within yourself.\u201d <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t have to ask for permission to be yourself,\u201d asserts Christopher Clermont, a diversity and inclusion program lead. \u201cKeep staying weird, being a nerd, a little flamboyant\u2014or a lot flamboyant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/body-image-chris-babka-800x564.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48835\"\/><figcaption>Rise By We senior sales lead Christoph Babka. Photograph courtesy of Christoph Babka<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2  id=\"the-bullies-chasing-after-you-are-teaching-you-how-to-run\"class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cThe bullies chasing after you are teaching you how to run.\u201d<\/strong> &nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Christoph Babka, a senior sales lead at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.risebywe.com\/\">Rise By We<\/a>, would tell his middle-school self that his adversaries would ultimately make him a stronger, better person. \u201cBe grateful for them over time, for inspiring you to change,\u201d he says. \u201cNot to change to be who they want you to be\u2014but to be the strong, confident person you were always meant to be.\u201d And while he\u2019s on the subject, he points out that \u201cbeing gay is probably the least interesting thing about you. There\u2019s so much more than you can develop in who you are as a person.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/body-image-nyla-800x571.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48836\"\/><figcaption>WeWork billings and collections manager Nyla Mirza. Photograph courtesy of Nyla Mirza<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2  id=\"playing-with-boys-toys-and-video-games-doesnt-make-you-any-less-of-a-girl\"class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cPlaying with boys\u2019 toys and video games doesn\u2019t make you any less of a girl.\u201d<\/strong> &nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As Nyla Mirza, a billings and collections manager based in London, pored over childhood photos, she mused that she has always been exactly who she\u2019s supposed to be. \u201cNo one else\u2019s opinion should affect what you should be doing and who you should be loving,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s fine to go outside and play with the boys.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/body-image-jd-800x557.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48837\"\/><figcaption>WeWork strategic events lead J.D. Thompson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2  id=\"its-ok-to-be-different\"class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cIt\u2019s OK to be different.\u201d<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In his own journey, strategic events lead J. D. Thompson found that authenticity creates &nbsp;opportunity. \u201cWhen you live in your true, authentic self, things happen that might not [otherwise],\u201d he says. Thompson wants his past self to know that \u201cit\u2019s OK to be different,\u201d adding that he had a tough time letting go of the person he thought he should be\u2014but once he did, his opportunities grew. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/body-image-gonzalo-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48841\"\/><figcaption>WeWork community manager Gonzalo Padilla. free.\u201d<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Accepting one part of your identity allows you to open up to another, says Gonzalo Padilla, a community manager at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/buildings\/mariano-escobedo-595--mexico-city--DIF\">WeWork Mariano Escobedo 595<\/a> in Mexico City. \u201cPeople are going to love you because of
