After studying art history throughout high school and college, she had \u201cexhausted my curiosity,\u201d she says, feeling that \u201cfine art was really removed from people\u2019s everyday lives.\u201d Instead of getting disheartened, she thought back to how art was used to communicate with people during the medieval period and the Renaissance. She asked herself, \u201cWhat has really replaced art in terms of an instrument of power?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" height=\"810\" width=\"1440\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/Leigh-George-2.jpg?resize=1440%2C810\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24174\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>They\u2019re not just clients; they\u2019re friends of mine. I really want to understand what their business is like from their perspective\u2014what keeps them up at night, what has them worried\u2014and do what I can to help them.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The answer was in branding, so she switched her focus to graphic design in graduate school. Then she realized: \u201cI don\u2019t want to be an academic. What I\u2019m really interested in is doing what these designers are doing: helping to tell stories through images and layouts and designs, and thinking strategically about how you can solve business problems this way.\u201d Founded in May 2015 and based out of Washington, D.C.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/washington-d-c\/manhattan-laundry\">WeWork Manhattan Laundry<\/a>, George refers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.findfreedom.co\/\">Freedom<\/a> as a branding and marketing \u201cun-agency.\u201d The 47-year-old CEO says, \u201cI\u2019m interested in finding new ways to engage with someone\u2014customers or members or funders.
