That means that these 300 people will have access to all WeWork locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason? Microsoft\u2019s Matt Donovan says it\u2019s all about making the workforce as flexible as possible. It cuts down on transit time for the sales team, giving them time to meet with more customers during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen someone on our sales team is down at the bottom of Manhattan meeting with someone in the finance sector, then they can just use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/buildings\/charging-bull--new-york-city--NY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WeWork Charging Bull<\/a>,\u201d he says. \u201cIn that space, they can have a meeting, have a coffee, relax, or whatever. Then when they have to meet with a customer uptown, they can switch to one of the other WeWork locations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/11\/20161103-Matt-Donovan-Microsoft-9-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Matt Donovan Microsoft\" class=\"wp-image-24180\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>When I think about us as a company, it\u2019s interesting to reflect on the fact that we were once a startup as well,\u201d says Microsoft&#8217;s Matt Donovan. \u201cI think that Bill Gates and his team would have loved to have started out of a community like WeWork.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not the only space that Microsoft is taking at WeWork. It\u2019s also offering employees what it calls \u201ctouch down\u201d spaces at two WeWork locations in New York, as well as two others in Philadelphia and Portland. These dedicated spaces will be reserved for Microsoft employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of that, Microsoft is moving its 37-member sales staff in Atlanta into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/buildings\/buckhead--atlanta--GA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WeWork Buckhead<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donovan says the decision to move its sales team is the result of a longer collaboration with WeWork. A year ago, the corporation began offering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/creator\/personal-profiles\/simple-ways-to-do-more-with-office-365\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Office 365<\/a> to members of WeWork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen we started working with WeWork, we looked at the new experience that they\u2019ve created here,\u201d he says. \u201cWe looked at it and thought, \u2018Wow, that could be great for some of our teams. We need to get them in here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says the second benefit is exposing Microsoft employees to the vibe at WeWork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so much energy, creativity, and passion around you at WeWork,\u201d he says. \u201cI think there\u2019s going to be an extra benefit for&nbsp;them just from being part of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because it\u2019s constantly on the move, Donovan says the sales team was the first logical department to place in WeWork offices. And&nbsp;he envisions others moving into locations&nbsp;down the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft isn\u2019t the first large corporation to take space in WeWork\u2014GE, Dell, and Google are among the established companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donovan notes that while WeWork has always been a great experience for startups, it\u2019s now an ideal place for larger companies like Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen I think about us as a company, it\u2019s interesting to reflect on the fact that we were once a startup as well,\u201d says Donovan. \u201cI think that Bill Gates and his team would have loved to have started out of a community like WeWork.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photos: <a href=\"http:\/\/laurenkallen.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lauren Kallen<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft already has one office in New York City, but beginning this month it\u2019s going to have more than 30.
