He\u2019s led troops&nbsp;in the Israeli army, building camaraderie among the ranks. Five years ago he co-founded a nonprofit that empowers rising leaders to build a bridge between the Israeli and American communities. Working alongside Rafi Musher, founder and chairperson of <a href=\"http:\/\/israelandco.org\/\">Israel &amp; Co<\/a>, Galanos works to bring graduate students at prestigious U.S. universities to Israel. Trips are organized by field of study, whether its law, policy, or business. \u201cI needed to do something inspiring,\u201d says Galanos, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/new-york-city\/times-square\">WeWork Times Square<\/a> member. \u201cDoing things yourself is great, but it can only get you so far. If you work with others, collaborate, and motivate them to help you get on board with a bigger mission and bigger impact, that\u2019s even better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/11\/Gil-53-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"gil-53\" class=\"wp-image-24167\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>The most important thing about being an entrepreneur is to be resilient enough to meet with challenges and know that it\u2019s going to pass, and you\u2019re going to survive. Sometimes when\u00a0there\u2019s a big wave, you\u2019re going to duck under and wait until it\u2019s over.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the trips is to build rapport with students who will shape future leadership. \u201cFor us, it\u2019s about starting a relationship,\u201d says Galanos, \u201cand hopefully, it\u2019s long term.\u201d The organization, which launched five years ago, has brought more than 7,700 students to Israel. \u201cTo know I\u2019m doing something good for my people and humankind is something that drives me,\u201d says Galanos. \u201cI\u2019m working with an amazing team of young and passionate people who share our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photos: <a href=\"http:\/\/katelyn-perry.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Katelyn Perry<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gil Galanos is a natural leader.
