That was back in 1979. Over the years, friends and family started falling ill. A high school boyfriend died of leukemia. Her younger brother was diagnosed with three different kinds of cancer. And then, in 2012, Long herself found out she had a brain tumor. The now-recovered writer, director, and producer hopes to tell her own story in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.MELTDOWNthefilm.com\"><em>Meltdown<\/em><\/a>, her first full-length film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/10\/Jill-Murphy-Long-2-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Jill Murphy Long\" class=\"wp-image-23839\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>I want to make at least 12 movies before I kick off. I tell these young guns: \u2018You don\u2019t know how long you have. Make your movie now.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMaking a feature&nbsp;film,\u201d says the member of Portland\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/portland\/custom-house\">WeWork Custom House<\/a>,&nbsp;\u201cis like running a marathon.\u201d She started the project in January, rewriting her script more than 25 times. She\u2019s in the process of raising funds and pitching the idea to big-name talent. If everything goes well, she hopes to start filming next year.
