As a little girl living in the Roxbury section of Boston, Tatsha Robertson remembers her eyes lingering on a Boston Herald<\/em> photo of a black woman and child falling off a fire escape. \u201cIt scared me to death,\u201d says Robertson, whose family later moved to Greenville, South Carolina, \u201cbut I wanted to be a reporter because of it.\u201d When she landed a job at The<\/em> Boston Globe <\/em>years later\u2014the start of an investigative journalism career spanning more than 20 years\u2014her first assignment was tracking down the little girl who survived the accident. \u201cI found her,\u201d Robertson says, learning about the hard life she had endured. Years later, as a professor at New York University, she always discussed the story behind the picture with her journalism students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Tatsha<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There is nothing<\/em> more I would rather do than to write and tell stories. I can\u2019t not do it. It\u2019s like breathing. And I\u2019m good at it. And when you\u2019re good at something that you love, that\u2019s a blessing.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

While editing news stories at magazines like Essence<\/em> and People, <\/em>48-year-old Robertson was \u201cobsessed with how parents raise high-achieving people\u2014not just high-achieving kids, but people who grow up to be more successful.\u201d After years of conducting interviews\u2014\u201cI even interviewed Obama!\u201d Robertson says proudly\u2014she teamed up with Harvard professor Ron Ferguson to write an upcoming book. \u201cThe stories are just un-friggin-believable,\u201d she says. The WeWork Montague St.<\/a> member is also working on a \u201cstreet blog\u201d called The Ordinary Genius Project<\/a>, highlighting the stories of people she meets on the streets of New York. \u201cEverybody has a genius in them, and I wanted to pull that out of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
