Over the next week, the future business partners started talking passionately about the world of wedding registries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter the storm, he contacted me to test the idea and see where to start,\u201d Ellingson says. \u201cIt resonated with me, as I had just gotten married and was about to move across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blueprintregistry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blueprint Registry<\/a> is more than a place for engaged couples to suggest gifts friends and family members might want to give them for their wedding. It lets couples download a floor plan of their home and map out what items would fit best in which room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/In-a-Blackout-Blueprint-Registry-Founders-Light-Up-About-Weddings2.jpg?resize=400%2C400\" alt=\"in-a-blackout-blueprint-registry-founders-light-up-about-weddings2\" class=\"wp-image-23248\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHaving a top-down view gives you a starting place to know if you need, for example, a new dresser or lamp,\u201d Ellingson says. \u201cIt\u2019s like having a visual checklist to add products to the home. If you can\u2019t find a product through our list of top retailers, you can add it from any website.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the first year, Blueprint Registry tallied gross sales of $225,000. That\u2019s when Ellingson and Shetty \u201crealized we have something here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat was exciting is seeing people take to the idea,\u201d Ellingson says. \u201cPutting it in the marketplace and testing it quickly, it resonated with people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company reached $4.2 million in gross sales last year and continues to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"398\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/In-a-Blackout-Blueprint-Registry-Founders-Light-Up-About-Weddings3.jpg?resize=400%2C398\" alt=\"in-a-blackout-blueprint-registry-founders-light-up-about-weddings3\" class=\"wp-image-23249\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>When they launched their business in 2013, Blueprint Registry\u2019s humble abode was Shetty\u2019s tiny apartment. The following year, they became <a href=\"https:\/\/v2.wework.com\/plans\/hot-desk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hot Desk Members<\/a> at WeWork. Then they moved to Seattle and increased their team to five people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That wasn\u2019t their last move. When they got accepted into Techstars, a globally renowned startup accelerator, they relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. They also added three full-time developers and increased their team to eight people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Techstars\u2019 Demo Day, where Blueprint Registry will be able to showcase their work in front of investors, will take place September 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After graduating from Techstars, Ellingson and Shetty will return to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/seattle\/south-lake-union\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WeWork South Lake Union<\/a>, where they plan on taking an eight-person space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe majority of our team members are going through Techstars, but a few are still working out of the Seattle WeWork office,\u201d Ellingson says. \u201cHaving the flexibility to come in every few weeks and use the conference rooms and hot desks has been massive for us.
