That said, it is still very scary and exciting at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her business is called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mansome.co\/\">Mansome<\/a>, and it\u2019s exactly what men who want to look and feel their best have wanted for a long time. It doesn\u2019t involve choosing from among the store brands in a chain pharmacy or sniffing tubes of facial scrub in a fancy boutique. It\u2019s a monthly delivery of high-quality men\u2019s grooming products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/06\/At-Mansome-Sarah-Hamid-Rethinks-Shopping-for-the-Well-Groomed-Man2-400x571.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22416\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMen don\u2019t want to spend too much time searching for grooming products,\u201d says Hamid. \u201cBut when you talk with them, they say that they\u2019re totally willing to try something new.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamid says the challenge is that men aren\u2019t always comfortable shopping for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMen aren\u2019t educated about personal grooming in the same way that women are,\u201d says Hamid. \u201cI mean, my mother bought me my first makeup. Most men don\u2019t have a similar experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why Mansome sends men exactly the kinds of products that they want. The packaging of each product is always eye-catching and sophisticated\u2014Hamid is a great curator. She says the whole experience should feel \u201cunique and innovative.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t pick products just because they look manly,\u201d says Hamid. \u201cYou can get men to try a product with a super-cool design, but if they don\u2019t like the product itself, they won\u2019t trust you the next time you recommend something.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/07\/At-Mansome-Sarah-Hamid-Rethinks-Shopping-for-the-Well-Groomed-Man3-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"At Mansome, Sarah Hamid Rethinks Shopping for the Well-Groomed Man3\" class=\"wp-image-22430\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in France, Hamid started her business career in London. She spent most of her time in the high-stakes field of finance. But even in this fast-paced environment, Hamid felt like she needed a different kind of challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI always wanted my own company,\u201d she says, \u201cbut I didn\u2019t know quite what it would be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she was offered a job at a startup in Berlin, she jumped at the chance. She says she learned a lot from the experience, but the job wasn\u2019t the right fit. That\u2019s when she started thinking more seriously about launching her own company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/07\/At-Mansome-Sarah-Hamid-Rethinks-Shopping-for-the-Well-Groomed-Man4-400x571.jpg\" alt=\"At Mansome, Sarah Hamid Rethinks Shopping for the Well-Groomed Man4\" class=\"wp-image-22431\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Her first idea was a platform to book last-minute appointments at the barbershop, but that didn\u2019t work out. Then she remembered the men in finance she had once worked with for 12 to 14 hours a day, and how she used to give them tips about their personal grooming routines. The result was Mansome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since last year, she\u2019s been working on the idea at her office in WeWork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is inspiring to see so many young people taking risks and starting their own companies,\u201d says Hamid. \u201cThey make the decision to take a chance rather than pick a job in their comfort zone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking ahead, Hamid says she knows exactly where she wants to be within a couple of years. She wants a company that has grown organically, building on its success rather than pushing to expand too fast.
