Being based in London and working with some of the&nbsp;world&#8217;s premier talents in music has given the WeWork member quite the eclectic outlook. Read on to learn about Bailey\u2019s favorite artists he\u2019s worked with, his most prized vinyl find, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So tell us a little bit about yourself and your business, The Boy in the Corner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Boy in the Corner was born about eight years ago. It came about because I\u2019d spent a couple of years heading up Ministry of Sound\u2019s radio station and working on some of their international radio shows. From there, I wanted to set up my own business to make independent, bespoke, high-quality radio shows and podcasts. My history before that is lots of DJing and radio work since I finished uni, which took me all over the U.K. and a little stint in Ibiza looking after a team there. Then I landed in London, and the rest is history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/06\/Vinyl-Collector-Chris-Bailey-Takes-Radio-to-\u2018Bespoke-High-Quality\u2019-Places2-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Vinyl Collector Chris Bailey Takes Radio to \u2018Bespoke, High-Quality\u2019 Places2\" class=\"wp-image-22184\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who are some of your favorite DJs and artists you\u2019ve gotten to work with?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the key clients we\u2019ve got at the moment include Martin Garrix. He is a Dutch DJ who is very much at the top of his game\u2014one of the biggest DJs in the world. It\u2019s a pleasure to produce his radio show. We also work with Axtone, which is Axwell\u2019s record label. He\u2019s the guy from Swedish House Mafia, with a massive heritage, so we make his label\u2019s show, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/axtonemusic\/sets\/axtone-presents-podcasts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Axtone Presents<\/a>.\u201d Also, we\u2019ve been working for a very long time with Thomas Gold. He\u2019s based in Germany\/L.A., and we\u2019ve been producing his \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomas-gold.com\/fanfare-radio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fanfare<\/a>\u201d show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, we\u2019ve worked with Spinnin\u2019 Records, a big Dutch record label, with Ministry of Sound, and I looked after Paul Oakenfold\u2019s radio production for a while. And on top of that, I\u2019ve gotten to interview over the years just a massive amount of really exciting people, from Carl Cox to Pete Tong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/06\/Vinyl-Collector-Chris-Bailey-Takes-Radio-to-\u2018Bespoke-High-Quality\u2019-Places3-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Vinyl Collector Chris Bailey Takes Radio to \u2018Bespoke, High-Quality\u2019 Places3\" class=\"wp-image-22185\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s something about working in audio and sound that the average person might not know?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I guess how clever our ears and brain are at filtering out all of the noises that happen every day around us to concentrate on what we <em>actually<\/em> want to hear. When you\u2019re listening to music, or trying to hear someone talk at a party, and there\u2019s loads of other things going on around you, for example, and the way we can just zone in (or even out) on what we want to hear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are some podcasts you personally enjoy?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I find quite a lot of ones I enjoy on SoundCloud and Mixcloud\u2014just crashing around on there, listening to other people\u2019s radio shows, looking for new music and new talent\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/pulse-radio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pulse Radio<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mixcloud.com\/chriscoco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Coco<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/itssister\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sister<\/a>, which is a new, exciting project\/team for us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/06\/Vinyl-Collector-Chris-Bailey-Takes-Radio-to-\u2018Bespoke-High-Quality\u2019-Places4-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Vinyl Collector Chris Bailey Takes Radio to \u2018Bespoke, High-Quality\u2019 Places4\" class=\"wp-image-22186\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What else should we know about you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It goes with the territory, but I\u2019ve literally got thousands of records. I\u2019ve got a huge passion for vinyl, so I own far too many records, old radio players, anything vintage that makes noise I love. It\u2019s massively taking up my flat\u2014there\u2019s over half a ton of records in it, and that was thinning it down. I only know it\u2019s half a ton because we had to move it all recently!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My most treasured record: I\u2019ve got an original Miles Davis <em>Kind of Blue<\/em> release, which is one of the greatest albums ever made, and I somehow managed to buy a pristine original of it.
