This connection intensified when, as a child, Audi\u2019s parents planned family vacations all across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey were adventurous and wanted us to see other parts of the continent,\u201d she recalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/03\/Travel-Writer-Uncovers-Africa\u2019s-Best-Kept-Secrets11-1-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Travel Writer Uncovers Africa\u2019s Best-Kept Secrets11\" class=\"wp-image-20402\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This experience came in handy when Audi started working for a magazine that was entirely Africa-focused, running country profiles and articles about lifestyle, dining, and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While traveling in Africa, she came across incredible events, galleries, and boutique hotels. \u201cBut unless you landed at these places yourself or you knew people on the ground, there was no way you\u2019d know about them,\u201d says Audi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here, Audi saw an opportunity to fuse a subject she was passionate about, Africa, with a way she could be of service to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/03\/Travel-Writer-Uncovers-Africa\u2019s-Best-Kept-Secrets10-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Travel Writer Uncovers Africa\u2019s Best-Kept Secrets10\" class=\"wp-image-20245\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI got frustrated that dialogue about travel in Africa was focused on established tourist destinations, like Cape Town, Morocco, or safari excursions,\u201d says Audi. \u201cIt\u2019s a vast continent offering so many different experiences and so many cultures. My passion was to deliver that to people in a way that was visually appealing and would inspire people to visit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So she launched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hipafrica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hip Africa<\/a>, an online guide on where to sleep, shop, eat, and enjoy cultural attractions across the African continent. And her work is catching on. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/london\/south-bank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WeWork South Bank<\/a> member frequently receives emails from brides-to-be asking for advice on honeymooning in Africa. For now, Audi relishes helping them plan their trips. Later this year, Hip Africa will offer readers the opportunity to both research and book their travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a lovely shop window that\u2019s very pretty and very informative,\u201d says Audi, \u201cbut we will soon be offering the opportunity for people to purchase their holidays through the site.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/03\/Travel-Writer-Uncovers-Africa\u2019s-Best-Kept-Secrets11-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"Travel Writer Uncovers Africa\u2019s Best-Kept Secrets11\" class=\"wp-image-20246\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Audi says that the most surprising thing about covering travel and culture in Africa is how fast the continent is developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI could go to a city in January, and then come back six months later, and the city would already be transformed,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt\u2019s one of the few places in the world where there is economic growth at this scale. Suddenly, people are wearing designer clothes and eating sushi, when people weren\u2019t aware of those things a year before.
