{"id":18861,"date":"2016-01-14T16:09:51","date_gmt":"2016-01-14T21:09:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/creator\/?p=18861"},"modified":"2020-03-30T19:27:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-30T23:27:03","slug":"at-jugofresh-your-health-kick-can-include-twinkies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/ideas\/community-stories\/member-spotlight\/at-jugofresh-your-health-kick-can-include-twinkies","title":{"rendered":"At Jugofresh, your health kick can include Twinkies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Matthew Sherman is a man with a mission: making South Florida a little healthier one cold-pressed juice at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s the founder and CEO of the ever-growing <a href=\"http:\/\/jugofresh.com\/\">Jugofresh<\/a> franchise known for its freshly made organic juices, loaded a\u00e7a\u00ed bowls, flax seed Twinkies, and raw oatmeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wework.com\/locations\/miami\/lincoln-road\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WeWork Lincoln Road<\/a> member opened his first outpost in the Sunset Harbour neighborhood back in 2012, he already had a taste for clean, fresh food. With a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, master\u2019s in sports and exercise psychology from Barry University, and certification as a holistic and nutrition coach from the Institute for&nbsp;Integrative Nutrition, Matthew is no slouch when it comes to knowing good health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/01\/At-Jugofresh-Your-Health-Kick-Can-Include-Twinkies4-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"At Jugofresh, Your Health Kick Can Include Twinkies4\" class=\"wp-image-18867\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But this wasn\u2019t always the case for the wellness guru. Before there were cold-pressed juices, there were canned fruits and sodium-heavy veggies. After years of consuming processed foods, Sherman knew it was time for a change. So he embarked in the juice journey to help heal his own body\u2014Jugofresh just happened to come along in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having started the organic juice and health shop in his very own kitchen, he was too busy nursing himself to better health to give much thought to turning this juice thing into a real profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt started from my kitchen with no&nbsp;intention to be a business, [but] people in our community connected right away with our story and saw the love and&nbsp;integrity we were pouring into the product,\u201d says Sherman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/01\/At-Jugofresh-Your-Health-Kick-Can-Include-Twinkies5-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"At Jugofresh, Your Health Kick Can Include Twinkies5\" class=\"wp-image-18868\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Jugofresh has expanded to many South Florida neighborhoods including Wynwood, South Pointe, Coral Gables, and North Miami, along with also being inside several Whole Foods stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally noted for its cold-pressed juices, the local health chain has since added a variety of raw and organic treats. Take the <a href=\"http:\/\/jugofresh.com\/menu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twinkies<\/a>, for example. Just when you thought you\u2019d never devour this iconic sweet without feeling guilty about it, Sherman and his team made them healthy with hemp, hazelnut, flax seed, and coconut oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the real deal is this: the Alkaline Gangster juice and Brazil Nut Crumbles. One packed with spinach and ginger and the other with dates and raw honey, this lovely pair should always be enjoyed together, says Sherman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe combo of the alkalinity in the Gangster and perfect proteins in brazil nuts creates one&nbsp;of the world\u2019s greatest snacks,\u201d Sherman explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ideas\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2016\/01\/At-Jugofresh-Your-Health-Kick-Can-Include-Twinkies6-800x571.jpg\" alt=\"At Jugofresh, Your Health Kick Can Include Twinkies6\" class=\"wp-image-18869\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Can\u2019t argue with that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Jugofresh is already booming, there\u2019s more room to grow, and Sherman has plenty of ideas in store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are going to diversify what we do and&nbsp;start to have full kitchen experiences,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd [we] will&nbsp;continue to grow with Whole Foods. Look out for us in new markets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should also look out for Sherman the next time you\u2019re carpooling with Uber. (He\u2019s a big fan of the car-sharing program, being a self-proclaimed \u201cterrible driver\u201d and all.)
