After taking a bite of his flatbread sandwich during his lunch break, London-based software app executive Tom Dodds immediately thought something tasted fishy.<\/p>\n

On Twitter, he publicly chastised Pret A Manger in a memorable tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat did your chef put in the Pret chef\u2019s special crayfish and avocado flatbread?\u201d he asked. \u201cTastes like my daughter\u2019s sandpit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dodds got a free sandwich out of the deal. But what followed was an epic rap battle on social media. The WeWork Moorgate<\/a> member Dodds was relentless with his puns on pop songs, but so was Pret.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat fish cray,\u201d Dodds wrote, quoting from a song by Jay-Z and Kanye West.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got 99 problems, but the fish ain\u2019t one,\u201d Pret shot back.<\/p>\n

He was hooked, and over the course of several hours the two of them traded barbs. Dodds, vice president of sales at Hands HQ<\/a>, says he didn\u2019t expect that his tweet would get such an enthusiastic reaction from Pret.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a little surprised to see them bite back with a funny retort,\u201d says Dodds.<\/p>\n

After quotes from from Silent\u00f3\u2019s \u201cWatch Me\u201d and The Weeknd\u2019s \u201cI Can\u2019t Feel My Face,\u201d both sides took it up a notch. Pret broke out with a line from Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cShake It Off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just gonna hake, hake, hake, hake, hake,\u201d Pret wrote. \u201cI hake it off, hake it off.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dodds effortlessly inserted an impressive five different fish references into quotes from Notorious BIG\u2019s \u201cJuicy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was all a bream,\u201d Dodds wrote. \u201cI used to read turbot magazine. Goldfish, cod and anchovy up in the limousine.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exchange continued with references to Adele\u2019s \u201cHello\u201d and finally ended with Meghan Trainor\u2019s \u201cAll About That Bass.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWell played!\u201d Dodds finally wrote. \u201cHave a good one, guys!\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Dodds won\u2019t be ordering the crayfish and avocado flatbread again, he says he plans to continue having lunch there regularly, as he has been for years.<\/p>\n

And who was that mysterious tweeter at Pret? A company rep declined to name the employee, saying \u201cthey\u2019re not really one to fish for compliments.\u201d<\/p>\n
