No matter how old I get, September will always remind me of shopping for school supplies. Who doesn\u2019t love the fresh start that comes with crisp notebooks and sharp pencils?<\/p>\n

Though back-to-school sales are typically geared toward students, there\u2019s nothing that says adults can\u2019t do a little fall office supply shopping of their own. So we polled WeWork members about their workspace must-haves.<\/p>\n

Get organized<\/strong><\/p>\n

Studies have shown<\/a> that physical clutter negatively affects your ability to focus and process information, so when it comes to the setup of your workspace, it\u2019s important to have a clutter-free area that allows you to clear your mind and concentrate on your work.<\/p>\n

A name that came up again and again in our poll was Muji<\/a>, and it\u2019s not hard to see why. Rinat Sherzer of fisbo<\/a> and Dave Fano of WeWork both recommend the Japanese company, whose products have a simple, natural aesthetic. Another member favorite: Poppin<\/a>, says Jill Krupnik of Jane Rotrosen Agency<\/a>. The products\u2019 vibrant colors\u2014plus the company\u2019s mantra, \u201cWork happy\u201d\u2014are sure to brighten any desktop.<\/p>\n

\"muji<\/p>\n

Although a little pricier than Muji or Poppin, Grovemade<\/a> also offers beautiful desk organization supplies, says Brittany Thornburg of Madsen Consulting Engineering<\/a>. Ordning&Reda<\/a>\u00a0is also a great option, notes Peter Bodum of Dobeo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many of us have gone digital with our calendars and planners, but a hard copy of each can be helpful. I\u2019m a sucker for the selection at Paper Source<\/a>, but Kate Eldridge of Riad Represents<\/a> recommends supplies from Rifle Paper Co.<\/a>, while OneSource Worldwide<\/a>\u2019s Christina Tscherteu says her go-to is See Jane Work<\/a>. Products from each of those places make me want to organize not only my desk, but also my life in general.<\/p>\n

Take note<\/strong><\/p>\n

Though many of us bring laptops to meetings and opt to use Evernote or Google Docs for note-taking, there\u2019s something to be said about writing your thoughts down by hand<\/a>. (And is there anything more gratifying than crossing items off a to-do list manually?)<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re looking for a classic option, try Moleskine<\/a> notebooks, suggests member Rudy Suminwa of Airwane<\/a>. Want a notebook that\u2019s a little more creative? WeWork\u2019s Victoria Taylor loves these James Jean<\/a> journals with their funky designs.<\/p>\n

For those of you who like spiral notebooks, Blurb Appeal<\/a>\u2019s Lisa Thide recommends Miquelrius<\/a> (those fun patterns!), while Buzz Andersen of Brooklyn Computer Club<\/a> swears by the Behance Dot Grid Book<\/a>\u2014simple, classic, and available in multiple sizes.<\/p>\n

\"What<\/p>\n

Two excellent options if you want to ensure your purchase benefits social good: Public – Supply<\/a> and Baron Fig<\/a> (suggested by Thornburg and Ron Morris of Blamo Corps<\/a>, respectively). Public – Supply donates 25 percent of the profits<\/a> from every sale to support creative arts classrooms in our country\u2019s public schools, while Baron Fig plants a tree<\/a> for each Confidant notebook purchased.<\/p>\n

But what\u2019s a notebook without a pen to accompany it? WeWork\u2019s Jen Lin swears by the G2 pilot pen<\/a> (\u201cthe thinner the better\u201d), while Thide raves about Paper Mate Flair felt-tip pens<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Have a little fun<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actual office supplies are awesome, but sometimes you need some extras to liven up your workspace and\/or boost your creativity. Enter Canopy<\/a>, which bills itself as \u201cAmazon, curated,\u201d where experts comb Amazon for beautiful and functional products to save you time. (Thanks to WeWork\u2019s Ruby Anaya for the tip!)<\/p>\n

When it comes to stress-busters, Lauren Mahoney of Space Chimp Media<\/a> recommends Aaron\u2019s Thinking Putty<\/a>. \u201cI used to work at the Apple Business Center, and all of the employees are crazy about it,\u201d she explains. \u201cIt’s a great \u2018fiddle tool\u2019 that keeps you focused and releases pent-up energy from sitting at a desk or cube all day.\u201d<\/p>\n

And, of course, there are always good ol\u2019 Trapper Keepers<\/a>. \u201cEveryone knows it\u2019s all about the Trapper Keeper,\u201d says Travis Vance of Summit Trail Advisors<\/a>.<\/p>\n
