In the coming year, WeWork will be managing millions of square feet of construction. Today, we open 5 to 10 locations every month and we have only begun to scratch the surface of global demand. At the rate the company is growing, we will be (if we aren\u2019t already) one of the largest consumers of design and construction services in the world.<\/p>\n
This means that we must recognize the value in\u2014and commit to\u2014a vision for the building process and the built environment that is technologically unified, efficient, and sustainable.<\/p>\n
Today, there is information loss at every stage of the building process as real estate, design, construction, and operations are provided by a large number of disparate providers. This results in needless waste of materials, time, and capital at the end user’s expense.<\/p>\n
WeWork is in a unique position as one of the only true end-to-end solutions that is involved in every phase of a building\u2019s life cycle\u2014from identifying, leasing, and designing to building and managing.<\/p>\n
Our vision for the built environment is to develop a fully integrated solution where we source, design, build, and operate space for every one of our members.<\/p>\n
With that in mind, we are excited to announce we have some old friends joining the WeWork Product and Engineering team to enhance our capabilities.<\/p>\n
WeWork has agreed to acquire Fieldlens, one of the building industry’s leading project management applications. Fieldlens is six years into their mission of streamlining construction by empowering users with effective on-site communication.<\/p>\n
WeWork is actually already one of Fieldlens\u2019 biggest customers. As an early adopter, our product and construction teams have seen first-hand what connected front-line teams can accomplish and we could not be more excited about the future together.<\/p>\n
With the Fieldlens team now part of our Product and Construction team at WeWork, we want to innovate on every aspect of our building process and break the silos within the industry to ensure clear communication and a free and easy exchange of information at every stage.<\/p>\n
We have always been obsessed by the intersection of technology and the construction industry. Even when we were CASE\u2014a company WeWork acquired and successfully integrated in 2015\u2014we focused on the intersection between buildings and data.<\/p>\n
As we look at the size and scale of the building challenges we have ahead of us, we couldn\u2019t be more excited to be working alongside the Fieldlens team.<\/p>\n
