Among the report\u2019s key takeaways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 in 10 companies maintained or expanded their WeWork footprint. Among approximately 30,100 companies present in both periods, 81% kept or added to the amount of space they occupied.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Average company footprints grew nearly 10%. Companies occupied an average of 11.5 seats per month in the first half of 2026, up from 10.5 a year earlier, with growth across 14 of WeWork\u2019s 20 major markets.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Growth was led by small businesses, with enterprises expanding as well. Small-business footprints increased 14.8%, from 7.8 to 9.0 seats on average, while enterprise footprints increased 5.6%, from 105 to 111 seats. Mid-size company footprints remained roughly flat.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Companies took more space without materially extending their commitments. New and renewal agreements averaged 10.7 desks and approximately 11 months, little changed from a year earlier.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On Demand reservations increased 20.4%. WeWork averaged 82,241 reservations per month, up from 68,279 a year earlier, with growth across markets including Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, London, Miami and Mexico City.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Taken together, the findings show companies are using flexible workspace in two complementary ways: maintaining and expanding dedicated space for their teams while also accessing additional workspace when and where they need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFew companies have the vantage point we do into how businesses of all sizes are actually using space,\u201d said John Santora, Chief Executive Officer of WeWork. \u201cAcross our 45 million square foot portfolio in 34 countries, we support members and companies spanning nearly every industry. Our community, sales and design teams are in constant conversation with those businesses, giving us a real-time view into how their needs are changing. When you combine that perspective with the data generated across our global network, we have a unique ability to understand not only how companies are using space today, but how they\u2019re thinking about it for what comes next.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The growth was broad-based across WeWork\u2019s global network. Average footprints increased in 14 of the company\u2019s 20 major markets, led by London, where they grew 26%, Buenos Aires at 21% and Paris at 19%. In the United States and Canada, Los Angeles led with average footprints up 13%, followed by Washington, D.C. and Boston at 10% and Toronto at 8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also found that companies present in both periods were overwhelmingly likely to stay at the same size or grow. In every major market analyzed, at least 80% of those companies maintained or expanded their footprint, with the share reaching 91% in Miami, 90% in Amsterdam and 88% in Seoul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mid-Year Snapshot: The State of Flex at WeWork is based on WeWork\u2019s proprietary membership data across its worldwide locations, comparing January through June 2025 with the same period in 2026. The analysis includes all membership types except Business Address. Company-level findings exclude On Demand and other pay-per-use bookings.
